Pinot Noir

Pinot noir is one of the oldest wine varieties on the planet and one of the most elegant red wines in the world. It is famous for its gentle colour, which rapidly transforms to garnet red hues, and for a bouquet reminiscent of ripe strawberries. It first arrived to Slovenia back in 1822. Nevertheless, when we started cultivating it at the beginning of the 1980s, the Vino Kupljen Winery was one of the pioneers of pinot noir.

Pinot Noir Premium is our premium class of pinot noirs, and it is only produced from good vintages. What we are looking for in this wine is the ‘classical’ expression of the cool-climate Styria pinot noir. It has a medium ageing potential, of up to ten years.

ColourSoft garnet red.

AromaA fairly distinct bouquet; mature. Reminiscent of wild strawberries, forest fruit, smoke and forest undergrowth.

PalateIt tastes dry in the mouth, with the elegant character of a cool-climate pinot noir.
