At the centre of the Vino Kupljen wine story are Stars of Styria, the so-called "wine stars", i.e. the best and most prestigious Kupljen wines. Currently we have White Star of Styria, Red Star of Styria, Red Star of Jeruzalem, Sirius, etc, while other wine stars are still in the making.
Stars of Styria were first discovered at the end of the previous century, when Vino Kupljen gave its high-quality vintage a star name for the first time (it was Extract of Stiria). Unfortunately, the Slovene authorities confiscated those first Kupljen wine stars because of the unclear Austrian legislation related to the protection of the trademark name "Styria". Determined to keep the name Stars of Stiria for its high-quality wines Kupljen answered this mishap by purchasing an actual star in the Orion constellation and gave it the name Star of Styria.
